1. Introduction

These Release Notes provide an overview of Fuse Management Central 1.8.0, including new features, delivery information, and supported platforms. It is recommended that you read these release notes in conjunction with the documentation included with the software package. If any conflicts exist, the Release Notes supersede the other documentation.

2. About Fuse Management Central

This section provides an overview of Fuse Management Central 1.8.0.

Fuse Management Central is a centralized web administration console for OpenText™ solutions, providing Self-Managed Customers or Managed Service Providers with a Unified Management Experience. With its intuitive user interface and simplified deployment, OpenText™ system administrators can now interact directly from a system component, maintaining context and understanding of it, with the option to schedule any action.

Fuse Management Central also separates system administration from content administration, introducing a new layer of security on top of the traditional OpenText™ administration tools.

2.1. What is New in Release 1.8.0

Fuse Management Central 1.8.0 includes the following innovations:

  • HyperLens (Experimental Feature - OTCS Only)

Discover HyperLens, an experimental feature that provides advanced visualization and drill-down view of end-to-end OTCS requests by analyzing log files and transforming all data into a comprehensive and data-driven user experience.

  • OTCS Admin Server Details in System Object Volume

Easily access detailed Admin Server information within System Object Volume management, streamlining troubleshooting and improving visibility into system configurations.

  • Dynamic Component Values in Alert Details

View not only the observed alert value but also the current value of the impacted component, ensuring alert details are always up-to-date, contextual, and more actionable.

  • Contextualized Time Machine Alert Counters

Benefit from smarter alert counters that adapt to page context and active filters, ensuring displayed metrics are relevant to the specific system, environment, or dataset being analyzed.

  • Execute Multiple Actions Sequentially

Run multiple dependent actions in one operation. For example, apply configuration changes that require an OTCS restart, and trigger the restart automatically, reducing manual effort and improving efficiency.

  • "New Buffer" Action for OTAC

Perform buffer operations more efficiently with the newly introduced Buffer Action in OTAC. Requested by customers, this feature complements the existing edit buffer option for seamless workflows.

  • Running Operation Indicator on Systems Page

Quickly identify and track background operations with the new Running Operation indicator now available on the Systems page. Always know which actions are in progress without leaving your current view.

  • OTCS Distributed Agent Alerts Respect System Outages

Eliminate unnecessary notifications by ensuring Distributed Agent alerts account for active System Outage windows. This improves alert accuracy by distinguishing between planned downtime and unexpected issues.

  • OTAC Job Scheduler Status Alerts

Stay informed when the OTAC Job Scheduler is not running with a dedicated alert for scheduler downtime. Administrators receive timely notifications and can act directly from alert details to restore normal operations.

2.2. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Compliance

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a European Union (EU) law that provides residents with greater protection and control over their personal data. It regulates the collection, storage, transfer, and usage of data by companies both inside and outside the EU. All companies that process data of EU residents are required to comply with GDPR, which came into effect on May 25, 2018.

GDPR defines the following rights for the EU citizens:

  • Right to be informed

  • Right of access

  • Right to rectification

  • Right to object

  • Right to erasure ("the right to be forgotten")

  • Right to data portability

  • Right to restrict processing

  • Rights regarding automated decision-making and/or profiling

Companies use Fuse Management Central products to monitor and manage the performance and quality of their OpenText™ systems, which by default, do not track personal data.

For these reasons, Fuse Management Central is and must be GDPR compliant.

  • Recommended: 8 CPU @ 2GHz

Memory

  • Minimum: 8GB

  • Recommended: 16GB

Disk Space

  • Minimum: 50GB

  • Recommended: 100GB

Disk space consumption has an estimated growth rate around 0.1GB/day/system and this data is kept for 31 days by default, for long term metrics. HyperLens data is only kept for 24 hours by default.
The values provided represent estimated disk usage only and do not account for the additional space required by HyperLens. Estimating HyperLens disk usage is challenging, as it collects and processes logs from OpenText Content Server. The actual space requirements depend on several factors, including the number of systems being analyzed, the duration for which HyperLens remains enabled and the workload generated by users on Content Server during that period. As a result, the required disk space for HyperLens can vary significantly.

7. Known Issues

7.1. "Could not find the class definition" llserverworker JVM error

Occasionally, in OpenText Content Server version 23.x or above, there is a rare issue encountered when restarting OpenText Content Server via Fuse Management Central. This triggers a soft restart, but sometimes the Fuse Management Client fails to load properly due to the incorrect loading of the required Java libraries (.jar). Currently, the workaround for this issue is to manually restart the OTCS service, forcing the reload of all the Java libraries and resolving the problem.

Based on our investigations, it appears that this behavior is related to the internal restart process of OpenText Content Server and is beyond the control of our module. We are actively analyzing this behavior and investigating the issue with OpenText.
